Located across the street from Shell gas station in Hillsboro. Prior to 1900 the Mey Family manufactured wagons and buggies. Earlier today I got to go up in the attic of the building. I got a couple photos showing the 150 year old lift / elevator mechanism. This is all that is left but at one time the building had a huge elevator between the ground and second floors. The building is still standing and has been converted into four apartments. The Kelly family owned this building for decades. Kelly Wholesale Foods got their start on the ground floor.
This 1893 map of Hillsboro shows that Tremont Street used to be named Fremont Street. The three buildings belonging to A.H. Mey & Co. Wagon Shops at the corner of Fremont and South Main still stand.
