1918 ~ Lake Hillsboro Opens To The Public. At Old Settlers 1930 they organized a swim competition. An estimated 2,500 people attended. Around 1937 Mayor Harry Yoffie obtained WPA funds and put in the actual road crossing the dam and he extended the road through the North side of the lake. The bridge leading to the campground wasn't installed until sometime after World War Two.
