Echlin Manufacturing Co. Litchfield

On Tuesday June 3, 2008, citing "global economy and global price pressure," Affinia Group Inc. told its 200 employees at its 320,000 square foot facility on McKinley Avenue that the plant is expected to close shortly after the end of the first quarter in 2009.
Echlin Manufacturing Co. bought the Weatherproof Co. facilities on October 1, 1970. Echlin grew to around 600 employees in the late 1980's. The name was changed to Hydraulics Inc. in 1989 before it was later bought by Dana Corporation and then Affinia.
