Claude Grotts was an art teacher at Hillsboro High School & Hillsboro Junior High School. The Historical Society has a few pieces of his original artwork in their collection.
Claude F. Grotts, 86, of Hillsboro died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at his summer home in Hillsboro.
He was born Nov. 29, 1916, in Hardin, the son of Walter F. and Claudia Irene Hough Grotts.
He married Margaret Latham in 1947 in Hillsboro; she died in 2002. A son, Robert Grotts, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Grotts graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1934 and the Art Center in Los Angeles in 1956. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He taught junior high and grade school in Hillsboro for many years.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, Hillsboro Moose Lodge 1377, Hillsboro Country Club and Montgomery County Farm Bureau.
Survivors: a son, Charles (wife, Barbara) Grotts of Los Angeles; a daughter, Sally (husband Terry) Walker of Mountain Home, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Marko of Mendota.
Services: noon Tuesday, Hough and Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro, the Rev. James Howie officiating.
Burial: Oak Grove Cemetery.
