The Palace of Varied Industries, a magnificent building covering 14 acres and costing $2,604,000, World's Fair, St. Louis, 1904.

Three homes in Hillsboro were built with salvaged parts from the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. These three homes all have front porch columns which originally were used at the "Palace of Varied Industries" at the St. Louis World's Fair. After the fair ended many parts from the building were salvaged. These columns all made it to Hillsboro Illinois. All three homes were built around the same time.
